Leicester Children's Hospital wins IHEEM Design Award

AFL Architect's East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre (EMCHC) project at Leicester Children's Hospital was recognised this week with an IHEEM Award.

The Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards recognise award excellence in the latest innovations from the leading names in the healthcare sector. The Awards are judged by experts with extensive experience and achievements within the NHS and commercial healthcare sector.

The EMCHC won the top accolade in the highly competitive Refurbishment Project of the Year category

The judges made their decision based on the key criteria of originality, innovation, quality of planning and execution, delivery of desirable economic development and regeneration.

AFL's entry demonstrated these factors fully, while featuring highly positive testimonials across the estates staff.

The awards night was held on the evening of the first physical Healthcare Estates exhibition and conference. The IHEEM Awards have not been held since 2019. Competition was therefore fierce. Another entrant, the Nightingale Hospital Exeter, was recognised with a commendation.

"This award is truly a whole team effort, where multiple projects came together under a clear, engaging and meaningful vision. Thank you so much to the judges for the recognition, to an incredible client and to the full project team. We are beyond delighted."
