AFL Architects Designing Barrier Seating Areas at Molineux Stadium

← Back to news & insight

AFL Architects is providing design and technical guidance on the installation of barrier seating at Molineux Stadium. This important change makes Wolves the first Premier League club to install seats incorporating barriers in an existing stadium.

Barrier seating will provide a safer environment for fans who persistently stand, while remaining compliant with the Sports Ground Safety Authority’s (SGSA) Green Guide.

The SGSA revised its guidelines regarding the use of barrier seating last year. AFL has since provided advice to several clubs across the UK that are interested in a safer alternative to traditional seating.

The practice is currently working with the club to design and deliver major upgrades to the stadium following a record-breaking year for fan attendance. AFL has also previously designed and delivered several projects for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, including the Stan Cullis Stand, the stadium masterplan and developments to Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground at Compton Park
