Rita has practised and taught architecture across the world, for example in Lobito, Angola where the learning resources were very limited. For many of her students she was the first woman in the industry they had ever met. For the female students, they understood that it was possible to practice, teach and be respected.
She practices the belief that to truly change perceptions, both women and men should be mentored and supported equally.
The winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in Manchester on Wednesday 5th June.
