Rita Ochoa

Senior Associate

What do you do at AFL?

I’m a Senior Associate for Sports & Leisure. Originally from Lisbon, I joined AFL in 2013 to imagine and deliver dreams.

My everyday is designing and running complex projects with international teams and clients. I work very closely with our clients to deliver an artistic, technical and human architectural response to their dreams, on budget and on time, many times exceeding their expectations.

My most recent projects include Swansea Central, Brentford Community Stadium, Hull Arena, Camp Nou, Lusail Stadium and Ashgabat Olympic Stadium.

I’m a keen public speaker, giving talks internationally on subjects such as architecture, stadia, esports and inclusivity.

What is your proudest moment at AFL?

In 2019 I was shortlisted for the “Building Design’s inaugural Female Architectural Leader of the Year Award” and the “Most Inspiring Role Model for Diversity and Inclusion in UK Construction”.

What is your passion outside of architecture?

My other passions are film making, where I’ve been writing and directing (very) independent award-winning short movies, and, of course, being a mother.
