A Milestone for Connacht Rugby’s New North Stand

← Back to news & insight

Progress continues at the new North Stand at Dexcom Stadium in Galway, home of Connacht Rugby. A key milestone has now been reached with the installation of stadium seating, giving a clear impression of how the stand will look on match days.

Seating and Accessibility

The stand will accommodate 5,000 seated spectators, alongside 1,600 standing capacity, providing a vibrant and inclusive matchday experience. The design incorporates:

  • 4,200 general admission seats, including accessible amenity seating.

  • 800 hospitality seats, with an exclusive accessible terrace linked to a tunnel club for 30 guests.

  • Provision for 63 wheelchair users plus companions, ensuring inclusivity at every level of the design.

Hospitality with a View

As the external envelope nears completion, attention has turned to the hospitality areas on the upper levels. Glazing is now being installed, enclosing a lounge space that opens directly onto the 800 upper tier seats.

The hospitality lounge offers full-length views of the pitch as well as panoramic backdrops across Lough Atalia and Galway Bay. On match days, the 1,300 sqm space functions as one large lounge, while on non-match days it can be divided into up to five separate lounges, creating a flexible venue for events and conferences.

Next Steps

With the seating installed and glazing underway, internal finishes are set to begin next month. The project remains on track for completion in early 2026, delivering a landmark stand for both Connacht Rugby and the city of Galway.
