Plannning Application Submitted for London’s Largest Dedicated Pickleball Centre

← Back to news & insight

Plans have been submitted to the Royal Borough of Greenwich for a new landmark sports facility at Greenwich Peninsula: London’s largest dedicated Pickleball Centre, designed by AFL Architects in collaboration with ClubPickle and Knight Dragon.

Located on a one-acre site close to North Greenwich Station and the O2, the scheme proposes 12 purpose-built indoor courts alongside a high-quality food and beverage offer. The centre has been designed to create a vibrant, inclusive destination that will support the rapid growth of pickleball across the UK.

A transformational venue for London

As one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, pickleball is capturing the imagination of players of all ages. This new facility will provide a dedicated home for London’s community, offering junior programmes, tailored sessions for older adults, private hire opportunities, and corporate packages for local businesses.

Jack Eatherley, co-founder of ClubPickle, said:

“We love Pickleball, and we know that Londoners will love it too. ClubPickle will be a dedicated indoor Pickleball centre — a new kind of sports space designed for all ages — and we can’t wait for everyone to play this wonderful sport.”

Enriching Greenwich Peninsula’s community offer

The development will further enhance the Peninsula’s growing reputation for sport and wellbeing, joining established venues such as the Golf Driving Range and Gather Training.

Laura Flanagan, Marketing Director at Greenwich Peninsula, added:

“Greenwich Peninsula’s community is fast-growing, with more than 5,500 people living here and 180+ businesses choosing to base themselves here. Pickleball will be a welcome addition, building on our commitment to creating engaging, healthy, and social experiences.”

Next steps

With planning approval anticipated in October 2025, construction is expected to begin towards the end of the year. The venue is scheduled to open in Spring 2026, creating a unique, design-led sporting destination for London.
